چکیده

Ultra-Wideband1 (UWB) is a radio transmission scheme that uses extremely low power pulses of radio energy spread across a wide spectrum of frequencies. UWB has several advantages over conventional continuous wave radio communications including potential support for high data rates, robustness to multipath interference and fading. We present an overview of UWB technology and its use in data communications and networking. We look at design considerations for UWB based networks at various layers of the protocol stack.

Modified U-Slot Stacked Micro-Strip Patch Antenna for Ultra-Wideband Applications in S Band, C Band and X Band

The U-slot micro-strip patch antennas were originally developed for bandwidth broadening applications. This study presents a transmission line feed to modify the U-slot stacked rectangular micro-strip patch antenna for Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) communications. The modified antenna has a U-cut loaded with parallel slits and corner slots and is printed on a dielectric substrate of FR4 with relative p...

The importance of fractional bandwidth in ultra-wideband pulse design

Ultra-wideband (UWB) communications systems provide extremely high data rates while using low transmit power relative to narrowband systems. Recent research concludes that such systems have characteristics that make them appropriate for highspeed wireless network applications. One of the distinguishing aspects of the UWB signal is an extremely high fractional bandwidth when compared with conven...

Ultra-Wideband Printed Antennas Design

On February 14, 2002, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States adopted the First Report and Order that permitted the commercial operation of ultra wideband (UWB) technology (FCC, 2002). The FCC allocated a bandwidth of 7.5GHz, i.e. from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz, to unlicensed use for UWB applications. Ultra Wideband is defined as any communication technology that occupies great...

Performance Analysis of Ultra-Wideband Spatial MIMO Communications Systems

The performance of an ultra-wideband multipleinput-multiple-output (MIMO) communications system is experimentally evaluated. Using 3x3 indoor channel measurements, it is demonstrated that the MIMO subchannels are highly uncorrelated, with correlation coefficients lower than 0.45. Eigenvalue decomposition further confirms the channel independence. A linear gain in outage capacity is demonstrated...

A Novel Compact Ultra-Wideband Antenna with Single and Double Band Rejection

Band-notch characteristic has been of great interest recently to overcome the electromagnetic interference of Ultra-wideband systems (UWB) with other existing ones. In this paper, we present a novel microstrip-fed antenna with band rejection property appropriate for UWB applications. Band-notch characteristic has been achieved by adding a rectangular resonant element to the ground section. A pr...
